Winter Skincare Tips for Healthy, Hydrated Skin

As temperatures drop, so do moisture levels in our skin. Cold air, indoor heating, and harsh winds can strip your skin of hydration, leaving it dry, tight, and irritated. But with a few key adjustments, you can keep your skin glowing all season long.


1. Switch to a Gentle, Hydrating Cleanser

Foaming or gel-based cleansers can be too harsh in winter. Instead, opt for a cream or oil-based cleanser to maintain your skin’s protective barrier.


2. Layer Your Hydration

Using a hydrating serum with ingredients like hyaluronic acid helps pull moisture into the skin. Follow with a rich moisturizer to lock it all in. You can also spritz some Thermal Spring Water (I like the brand Avene) directly to the skin before serum and moisturizer to give your skin a "glass of water" and introduce anti-inflammatory minerals. 


3. Facial Oils & Balms: Your Winter Skincare Heroes

Facial oils and balms are game-changers in winter, creating a protective layer that seals in moisture and shields skin from harsh elements. They help prevent transepidermal water loss, keeping skin soft and resilient.


4. Don’t Skip Sunscreen for Extended Sun Exposure

We all need to sunlight, however, if you are participating in winter sports and getting extended exposure this time of year, be sure to apply a mineral based SPF before spending the day outdoors (and reapply!)


5. Boost Hydration from Within

Drink plenty of water and incorporate omega-rich foods like salmon, avocado, and nuts as well as water dense foods like fruits and veggies to support skin hydration.
